The President’s engagements will include meetings with Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch, Minister of Economy and Finance and EBRD Governor Nadia Fettah, Minister of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development Leila Benali, Minister of Equipment and Water Nizar Baraka and Minister of Agriculture Mohammed Sadiki.
During her visit, the President will also meet with Omar Kabbaj, Advisor to his Majesty King Mohammed VI, and Abdelatif Mazouz, President of the Casablanca-Settat region.
As part of a discussion on capital market developments, President Renaud-Basso will meet with Nezha Hayat, President of the Moroccan Capital Market Authority, alongside senior market representatives. She will also meet with a number of EBRD private-sector partners in the banking, corporate and small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) sectors.
Speaking ahead of her visit, President Renaud-Basso said: “The EBRD is committed to supporting Morocco’s economic growth, regional integration and green economy potential and fostering equality of opportunity, particularly with regard to addressing youth unemployment and gender issues. In 2022, the Bank stepped up its engagement in the country, investing €528 million, with record levels in the private sector and in support of Morocco’s green transition.”
“We look forward to continuing to strengthen our partnership under a new country strategy to be finalised later this year, which will complement Morocco’s New Development Model,” the President added.
Morocco is a founding member of the EBRD and became an investee economy in 2012. To date, the Bank has invested more than €4 billion in Morocco through 94 projects and has three offices there, in Casablanca, Tangier and Agadir.
