After playing extra time, Morocco qualified for the grand final by defeating Mali in a penalty shootout during the U-23 AFCON.
In regular time, the host country took the lead with a goal from Zakaria El Ouahdi in the 14th minute, but it was Mamady Diambou who found the equalizer for Mali in the 66th minute.
In extra time, Morocco had the opportunity to take the lead with a goal that went through VAR review in the 108th minute, but Issoufi Maïga scored later on to force penalties.
