Morocco Takes Part in ‘Desert Flag’ Military Exercise in UAE

The multilateral air exercise gathers military personnel from different countries from across the world, including air forces from India, Australia, UK, Kuwait, UAE, France, US, Spain, and Bahrain.

The exercise starts today and will continue until March 17, military-specialized Facebook page Far-Maroc announced over the last weekend.

Morocco has been intensifying its presence in military cooperation as part of its commitment to upgrade its military capacity.

Every year, the country takes part in over 100 military exercises to strengthen its armed forces’ operational capabilities.

The Desert Flag military exercise comes as the North African country is gearing up along with the US to host the 2023 African Lion Military Exercise, one of the largest military drills in Africa.

The event will take place in Morocco between May 22 and June 16.

Morocco ranked 61st out of 145 countries in the Global Firepower Index in 2023.

As part of the 2023 state budget, Morocco allocated nearly $11 billion for its defense budget.

The  budget includes nearly MAD 4 billion additional funds compared to 2022.
