US First Lady Jill Biden to Visit Morocco to Promote Women, Youth Empowerment


Rabat – First Lady Jill Biden is scheduled to visit Morocco as part of a six-day trip to the Middle East, North Africa, and Europe, where she will focus on empowering women and young people. 

According to a statement from Biden’t Spokesperson Vanessa Valdivia on Friday, the visit to Morocco is part of the tour which is scheduled to begin next Wednesday.

“The first lady believes that supporting youth across the world is critical to our common future, with education, health, and empowerment at the heart of it,” Valdivia was quoted as saying by AP News.

“With her visit to the Middle East and North Africa, the first lady will continue to build on her work to empower young people, and reaffirm our commitment to strengthen our partnerships and advance our shared priorities in the region,” she added.

During her visit, Biden is expected to visit Amman, the capital of Jordan, where she will be present at the wedding of Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II and Rajwa Khalid Alseif, an architect, on June 1. 

While in Egypt and Morocco, Jill Biden will engage in activities aiming to promote women and youth empowerment, with a focus on U.S. investments that support educational initiatives and endeavors aimed at enhancing economic opportunities.

In Portugal, the first lady will take part in the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the US State Department’s Art in Embassies program, emphasizing the significant role that arts can play in diplomatic efforts.
